From a Simple Question to Mumbai's Own Kataifi Dough Manufacturer

Every great product starts with a gap someone noticed. Ours started with a simple question: why should the authentic taste of Middle Eastern desserts be limited to people who’ve travelled abroad?

That question turned into eight months of testing, tasting, and refining — before Sufy’s Kanafeh Point became one of India’s very few homegrown manufacturers of authentic kataifi dough.

Why We Started Manufacturing Kataifi Dough

Before we became manufacturers, we were dessert-makers ourselves — crafting kanafeh and discovering firsthand how hard it was to find good-quality kataifi dough in India. Most of what was available was imported, inconsistent, or simply hard to source reliably.

So we decided to make it ourselves — not just to solve our own problem, but to give every bakery, restaurant, and home baker in India access to fresh, consistently high-quality kataifi dough without relying on imports.

Our Manufacturing Process

Getting kataifi dough right is harder than it looks. The strands have to be shredded to the right thickness, hold the right moisture content, and cook consistently every time — get any of that wrong, and the final dessert suffers.

Over eight months, we tested ingredients, techniques, and processes until we could reliably produce dough with:

Consistent thickness and texture in every batch
The right balance of moisture — pliable enough to handle, dry enough to crisp beautifully
Genuine traditional flavour, made with the same care as kanafeh craftsmen from the regions where this delicacy originated

Today, every batch we produce goes through the same standard of testing before it reaches a customer’s kitchen — whether that’s a five-star hotel or a home baker’s kitchen counter.
