Kunafa Price in Mumbai

Kunafa prices in Mumbai vary more than most desserts, and the reason is not branding. It is what goes inside. This page explains what you are actually paying for, so you can tell a fair price from a padded one.

What ours costs

Our kunafa runs from around Rs 300 for a small portion to about Rs 1,450 for a large tray, depending on flavour and size. A few reference points:

Every size and its current price is listed in the shop. Prices there are always the live ones, so check the shop rather than relying on a figure from a page like this.

What actually drives the price

  • The cheese. In a traditional kunafa this is the single biggest cost, usually by a wide margin. A cheaper kunafa is very often a thinner cheese layer.
  • Pistachio. Real pistachio is expensive. It is the first thing cut when a kitchen is protecting a price point.
  • Size. Trays scale better than singles – the per-portion cost of a large tray is lower than the equivalent in small sizes.
  • The dough. The smallest line in the recipe, and the one that decides the texture. More on that below.

Why the cheapest kunafa is usually cheap for a reason

Kunafa is built on kataifi – fine shredded phyllo. Almost all of it in India is imported frozen and reaches kitchens weeks after it was made, having been through more than one freeze-thaw cycle. Those strands go brittle and shatter into fragments instead of pulling apart into threads.

That is why so much cheap kunafa looks dense and crumbly rather than stringy and crisp. It is not the recipe, it is the dough.

We manufacture kataifi dough in Mumbai as our main business and supply it to restaurants and bakeries across the city. Our own kunafa is made from that same fresh dough – which is where the money goes instead of into freight and cold storage.

Buying for a group

If you are feeding more than a few people, a large tray is better value per portion than several small boxes, and it holds heat better while you serve. For larger gatherings see kanafeh for parties and events, and for gifting there are assorted boxes.

Buying the dough instead

If you run a kitchen and want to make your own, the economics are completely different and we sell the dough by the kilo. That is set out on kataifi dough price in Mumbai.

Frequently asked questions

How much does kunafa cost in Mumbai?

Ours runs from roughly Rs 300 for a small portion up to about Rs 1,450 for a large tray, depending on the flavour and size you pick. Live prices for every size are on the shop page.

Why is cheese kunafa priced differently from Nutella?

Because the filling costs differently. Cheese and pistachio are the expensive parts of a kunafa. Chocolate-led versions and cream versions sit at different points for the same reason.

Is cheaper kunafa worse?

Usually it tells you where the money was saved – thinner cheese layer, less pistachio, or imported dough that has been frozen and thawed. None of those show up in the price, all of them show up when you eat it.

Do you charge extra for delivery?

Deliveries within our Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai route are part of the normal service. Call with your area if you are unsure whether you are covered.

Is it cheaper to order a large tray than several small ones?

Per portion, generally yes. If you are feeding a group, one large tray is better value than the equivalent in small sizes – and it also holds heat better while serving.
